all I have to say about law school so far:

zstrassI thought I read fast, but my eyes are tired.
Con Law reading alone tonight took four hours. I'm sure it will be faster once I know how to brief a case better, but for real...this was one case (Marsh v. Chambers), two scholarly articles about different ways to interpret the Constitution, the Constitution itself, and one newspaper article about Regan shifting the Court to the right. That's a lot, right? For one class? I've only had two of my four classes so far, but both of them cold-call (i.e., call on anyone, randomly, without raised hands. kind of neat but terrifying too).
I have some pretty awesome professors (so far?), though.
1. Reva Siegel, Constitutional Law small group (17 people). wikipedia
2. Amy Chua, Contracts (about 65-70 people; am not quite sure). wikipedia
3. Drew Days, Procedure (65-70). wikipedia
4. Guido Calabresi, Torts (65-70). wikipedia
Torts is scheduled for every day from 8:30-10AM. Some of the classes get canceled b/c Professor Calabresi is a judge and he has to be away a lot, but that's a lot of class/reading. Laptops have been banned from some of my classes. I think I like that. Less temptation to not pay attention, and I think I learn more when I'm not basically transcribing the class. However, now there's no way for my classmates to text me the answer when I'm cold called and have no clue what to say. At least we're all in the same boat. People seem nice so far. I wonder how friendships will work out.
and now, goodnight. so much for the "getting ahead by starting Thursday's miles of reading" I had been thinking about doing; it's not happening. I just need sleep.

(My eye doctor, concerned that my vision has continued to deteriorate past the usual developmental period, instructed me to stop reading so much, and stop spending time looking at computer screens. Um...
But she also told me to make sure to look away from my reading, at something far-ish away, every fifteen minutes or so, to exercise my whatever the hells. It helps a lot!)
