I bought a bicycle!
I think it was probably stolen, due to the sloppily-applied grey paint covering up whatever's underneath, but oh well. I may have overpaid, at $75, but I'm very happy to have a bike that actually fits me and is relatively lightweight. The back brake is a little eh, and squeaky, but the front one is good.
I took an actual lunch break, walked down to the Lower East Side, stopping to buy bubble tea in Chinatown, and bought a bike from a random old guy off of Craigslist.
The bike is now in my office, but I have a very large, very heavy lock at home, and will pick up my old helmet when I'm in Pittsburgh next weekend! (not this weekend. come hang out with me in Park Slope this weekend. we can go to the lesbian herstory archives and do heavy lifting for joan nestle. or, you know, whatever else you want. playing catch in the park or joining me to walk the dog are attractive options as well).
